Ericsson launches Pixl8r protocol and Social Media Portal
Our biggest partner Ericsson will be launching a new cross operator protocol for web2mobile services called Pixl8r and its first derivate called Social Media Portal (formerly known as LifeStore) tomorrow @barcelona mobile world congress. And ThirdFrameStudios is providing the protocol's key development, functionality and products.
A result of past years development, programming, designing and blueprinting for web2mobile connectivity is now officially launched by Ericsson, packaged as a product and called Pixl8r with a demo derivate named Social Media Portal. Pixl8r is here to provide the platform, SDK, cross operator protocol and key connectivities while Social Media Portal (SMP) is the first product developed with Pixl8r bells and whistles in mind. ThirdFrameStudios was and still is the key Pixl8r developer, providing core programming, back-end architecture, scalability solutions, and connectivity provider with other social networks as well as with mobile operator's solutions, such as billing, SMS, MMS, video telephony, voice telephony, Syncml and other black magic. And we are extremely proud that after years of development, product is finally ready for the market.
So what is it all about?
Well, imagine a single point of your phone connectivity with web, combined with what your mobile operator is already offering. Take a photo, send it via MMS, WAP, mobile web upload, and publish it on your operator's Pixl8r portal and on Flickr? Facebook? Bebo? Not a problem. Backup your phone's address book and connect it with your friend's list on Facebook? Not a problem. Update your status on Twitter and sync it with your phone, Facebook, Bebo, Pixl8r? No worries. Send a video to your friend via video call and record his response? Indeed. Receive SMS updates on your friends profiles? Enjoy the single point message box, combining your community messages, MMS, SMS and emails? All that and heaps more without downloading a single thing! Your mobile phone is already supported, all you have to do is connect truly with your mobile web experience.
Mobile phone as a remote control of your life
Indeed, its really that cool. And whats even cooler, your operator takes care of everything, all you have to do is use your phone as you normally do, without and usability hiccups, tricks or dead ends. And since its primarily a web 2.0 oriented solution, expect rapid development and up to date functionality. Updates non stop.
Really nothing to download? What is the magic?
The magic is: Pixl8r connects to your operator's network, joining everything that your operator has to offer and adding tones on candy of top of that. Use your SMS, MMS, voice and video calls, mobile internet, your phone's address book, whatever you want really, just imagine that your operator joins all these features under one federation, under one umbrella. Without anything to download.
But! Surely, smart phone users want more than just classic SMS, MMS and other similar stuff. Smart phone users want a better, richer experience. Therefore Pixl8r provides the extreme package: flash lite application, iPhone application, Android application and other smart phone platform application, adding even more stuff on your phone that adds even greater value to the end user.
Where can I see the stuff?
If you are in Barcelona these days, make sure you visit Ericsson booth at the mobile world congress. You will see a live, fully functional and working demo Pixl8r environment and you will be able to chat with the key Ericsson people there.
If you will not be able to beam yourself up to Barcelona, visit www.pixl8r.com for more info and for joining the federation as a user, developer or operator.
